Prince William and Princess Kate are less ready to forgive than King Charles, as they take on the burden of royal responsibility without Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

and are likely to warn King Charles not to welcome and back into the royal circle, according to an expert, as for them the wounds have not yet healed.

There have recently been hints that relations between the Sussexes and the rest of the Firm could be improving, especially after Harrry's phone call with his father for his 75th birthday last week.

Some have suggested that Harry and Meghan would even be open to an invite to Sandringham for Christmas, particularly as the King would be keen to see his youngest grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

However, royal author Tom Bower has claimed this would not go down too well with the Prince and Princess of Wales, as he told OK! magazine: "William and Kate are taking the burden of the monarchy and I’m sure William will be absolutely clear to his father that there won’t be any readmission of Harry because he and Kate don’t want it.

"Charles has not only got William and Kate, but he’s also got Camilla, who was very insulted by Harry and Meghan too, so that makes it a great problem for him."

Mr Bower added: "William is absolutely determined not to repair relations. His wife Kate has been hugely insulted by Harry and Meghan, and he sees Harry as a curse on the monarchy and on their lives. He has absolutely no intention of readmitting him into his life."

The author acknowledged that the King has struggled with cutting his youngest son out, and is less hardline on his behaviour than William has been.

He said: "For Charles, the whole thing has been painful and traumatic. The problem is that Harry and Meghan have caused so much damage, it’s hard to imagine how to repair it. But I’m sure that the King would like a solution.

"I think Charles is an emotional man. He’s only got two sons and he was pretty close to Harry. I think winning Charles over is very easy for Harry because Charles wants to be won over. He wants forgiveness and he wants to have a relationship with his son. But it’s far too complicated."

Despite the Sussexes claiming there had been "no contact" between them and the Palace regarding an invite to the King's birthday dinner, it has emerged that the two families do somewhat keep in touch.

Megha reportedly sends Charles updates on the children, although not directly, and he even received a video message of them singing happy birthday to him.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are typically only invited to the largest royal events, such as the Coronation and the Platinum Jubilee.

Harry attended the Coronation solo in May this year, as Meghan elected to stay home to be with their two young children, as it was also Archie's birthday.

The last time Meghan was in the UK was for Queen Elizabeth's state funeral in September 2022, with royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams telling Express.co.uk the Duchess has no desire to return here.
